The gusset is the panel that sits directly against your body — and it's usually polyester, even in underwear labeled "cotton." That matters, because synthetic fabric traps heat and moisture where your body needs air the most. A 2025 clinical review found nylon underwear is a documented risk factor for bacterial vaginosis compared to cotton and other natural fabrics. Step 1: Underband (Band Size)
Wrap a soft measuring tape around your ribcage, exactly where your bra band sits. Make sure the tape is level all the way around, snug but not digging in. Exhale naturally so your ribcage relaxes, then record this number in inches — this is your underband measurement.
Step 2: Bust (Cup Size)
While wearing an unlined bra or thin tank top, wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug (not compressing the tissue). Record this number in inches — this is your bust measurement.
