Privacy policy
Privacy Policy Last updated: May 7, 2026
Hey, we see you reading the fine print — we respect that. Here's everything you need to know about how we handle your data at epoché, written like a human being.
By using our website at epochestudios.com, you confirm that you've read and understood this policy, and that you're over 16 (or have a parent or guardian who's agreed on your behalf). If you don't agree — please don't use the site, and reach out so we can delete your data.
If there's ever a conflict between this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, this Privacy Policy wins when it comes to your data. If you're reading a translated version — the English original is always the legally binding one.
The short version
When you shop with us, we collect some information about you — your name, address, payment details, and how you use our site. We use it to get your order to you, keep things secure, and occasionally let you know about something we think you'll love. We don't sell your data. We do use third-party tools to run our business. You have rights over your data, and we'll always honor them.
What we collect and why
Things you give us directly
When you place an order or create an account, we collect your name, email, shipping and billing address, phone number, and payment information. We need this to process your order, deliver it to your door, and keep you in the loop along the way. Without these, we simply can't do our job.
Your size and fit preferences? We keep those too — so we can get it right and improve our recommendations over time.
When you contact our support team, we also collect whatever information you share with us in that conversation.
Things we collect automatically
We collect data about your device, including your IP address, time zone, browser type, device model, operating system, mobile carrier, and hardware ID. We also record which ads you interact with, and the referring app or URL that brought you to us — so we know which channels are actually working.
We use cookies — small files that live on your device and help us remember you the next time you visit. Session cookies disappear when you close your browser; persistent ones stick around a little longer. Some cookies are essential (the site doesn't work without them), some help us understand our traffic, and some power our ads. You can manage your preferences at any time.
We also use first-party pixels, server-side tracking, and conversion APIs to measure ad performance and improve our campaigns. This may include page views, cart activity, purchases, UTM and referrer data, and encrypted contact information sent to advertising and analytics platforms.
When you make a payment, our third-party processors handle your card details directly — we never store your full card number. What we do receive is transaction metadata: the date, time, amount, and type of payment method used.
Things we get from third parties
If you log in via Shopify, we receive your profile image, name, and email from them. Our advertising partners (like Meta and Google) may share tracking and advertising identifiers with us to help us understand how our ads perform and make them more relevant to you.
Legal basis for processing (for our EEA friends)
We process your data either because it's necessary to perform our contract with you, because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our business, because we're required to by law, or — in the case of marketing emails and non-essential cookies — because you've given us your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time.
Here's how that breaks down by data type:
| What we collect | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Order confirmations, shipping updates, customer support, marketing | Contract performance; legitimate interest for transactional emails; consent for marketing |
| Name | Identify you, process and fulfill orders, customer support | Contract performance |
| Shipping & billing address | Deliver your order, process payments, comply with accounting requirements | Contract performance; legal obligation |
| Phone number | Order coordination, delivery, support | Contract performance |
| Size & fit information | Fulfill your order correctly, improve size recommendations | Contract performance; legitimate interest |
| Device & location data | Provide access to the Service, analyze ad interactions | Contract performance; legitimate interest |
| Referring app or URL | Measure ad efficiency | Legitimate interest |
| Usage data | Understand and improve our Service | Legitimate interest |
| Transaction data | Process your payments | Contract performance |
| Cookies | Site functionality, analytics, advertising | Contract performance (necessary cookies); legitimate interest or consent (all others) |
| Shopify account data | Provide Service to users who log in via Shopify | Contract performance |
| Advertising identifiers | Measure ad effectiveness, improve relevance | Legitimate interest or consent |
Who we share your data with
We only share your data with people who help us run our business — never to sell it. That includes:
- Shopify — our platform and infrastructure. As our hosting provider, Shopify processes your data to provide and improve the Services. To learn more, visit the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy.
- Payment processors like Stripe, PayPal, and Solidgate — to handle your transactions securely
- Shipping partners like UPS, DHL, and FedEx — to get your order to you and handle returns
- Analytics tools like Amplitude and Microsoft Clarity — to understand how our site is used
- Marketing platforms like Google Ads and Meta — to run and measure our campaigns
- Customer support tools like Zendesk and Firebase — to respond to you when you need us
- Cloud storage providers like Amazon Web Services — to securely host your data
We may also share data if required by law, in response to valid legal requests from courts or government authorities, or in the event of a business merger, acquisition, or bankruptcy. In those cases, your data travels with the business — but it stays protected by this policy.
We may also share data with our affiliated companies within our corporate group, who are bound by the same privacy standards.
Third-party links
Our site may contain links to third-party websites. If you follow one, you're leaving epoché — and their privacy and security policies are their own. We can't guarantee anything about what happens to your data over there, so please read their policies before sharing anything.
Your rights
You're in control. Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
- Delete your data entirely
- Restrict how we use it
- Port your data to another service
- Object to processing, including for direct marketing
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the legal basis
- Opt out of targeted advertising and the "sale" or "sharing" of your data as defined under applicable law
To exercise any of these, email us at hello@epochestudios.com. We'll verify your identity first — this may involve confirming your name, email, date of account creation, or other details tied to your account. We may also send a verification code or link. We'll respond within the timeframe required by law and will never discriminate against you for asking.
You can also designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf. If they have a valid power of attorney, we'll work directly with them. Otherwise, we'll contact you directly to confirm their authority before proceeding.
Complaints: if you feel we've mishandled your data, please reach out to us first at hello@epochestudios.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
For our US friends
Depending on your state (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and others as applicable), you may have additional rights under local privacy law.
California residents: this also serves as our Notice at Collection.
Your rights may include:
- Right to Know — the categories of data we've collected, why, and who we've shared it with over the past 12 months
- Right to Access / Data Portability — a copy of the specific data we hold about you, provided in an electronic, portable, and readily usable format where applicable
- Right to Delete — request that we erase your data, subject to legal exceptions
- Right to Correct — fix inaccurate data we hold about you
- Right to Limit Sensitive Data Use — restrict how we process sensitive personal information
- Right to Opt Out — of targeted advertising and the "sale" or "sharing" of your data
We don't sell personal information for money. However, sharing data via cookies and pixels for advertising purposes may qualify as a "sale" or "share" under some state laws. To opt out, email us at hello@epochestudios.com. We also honor the Global Privacy Control signal automatically — if you visit our site with GPC enabled, we'll treat it as an opt-out request for that device and browser. We do not recognize other "Do Not Track" signals.
We do not knowingly sell, share, or use for targeted advertising the personal information of anyone under 18.
Appeals: if we deny your request, you have the right to appeal. Send us your original request details and the grounds for your appeal, and we'll respond within the legally required timeframe. If we deny the appeal, you may escalate to your state's Attorney General.
Targeted advertising & cookies
To turn off personalized ads on your device:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising → deselect Personalized Ads
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → enable Opt out of Ads Personalization
- macOS: System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Apple Advertising → deselect Personalized Ads
- Windows: Start → Settings → Privacy → turn off advertising ID
You can also opt out via the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org or the Digital Advertising Alliance at youronlinechoices.com.
Managing your communication preferences
You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email we send. If you opt out, we'll stop the promotional stuff — but we'll still send transactional emails about your orders, account activity, and delivery updates. Those are part of the service, not the marketing.
International data transfers
We're a global operation, which means your data may be processed outside your home country. If you're in the EEA or UK, we use Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission to make sure your data stays protected wherever it goes. Where the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision for a country, we rely on that too. Details on SCCs are available at commission.europa.eu.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data — but no security system is perfect, and we can't guarantee absolute security. We recommend not sharing sensitive information over unsecured channels. You're also responsible for keeping your account credentials safe — please don't share your password with anyone.
How long we keep your data
Only as long as we need to — to fulfill your order, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. After that, it's gone.
Kids
epoché is not for anyone under 16. If you're a parent and think your child has shared data with us, please reach out and we'll delete it immediately. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Updates to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll let you know — by email or on the site. Continuing to use epoché after an update means you're on board with the new version. The English original is always the legally binding version — any translations are for convenience only.
